Three out of Four Carriers Expect Freight Rates to Increase

A recent article by Transport Topics says that while predictions for the nation’s economic growth are still cautious, the trucking industry may see a “profitable ride” in 2012. Some analysts believe that freight rates will rise faster than inflation, allowing both truck and rail carriers to see an increase in profit margins. The article cites TCP’s fourth quarter 2011 Business Expectations Survey which found that three out of four executives expect freight rates to increase.
